Sunday School 2008-09 Tzedakah Project
This year’s Temple Emanuel Religious School Tzedakah project combines a desire to help children with a desire to help our fellow Jews abroad. All the funds we raise as part of weekly donations, coffee drives, and special events such as penny wars and pajama day will go to the North American Conference on Ethiopian Jewry.for two wonderful initiatives:
LIMUDIAH.: Intensive After-School Education for Ethiopian Children in Israeli Elementary Schools – this program provides education as well as school lunches to help assure academic success
School Lunch Program for the Jewish children in Ethiopia – this program provides a simple meal every school day to the children who are waiting to make aliyah to Israel.
We raised over $1000 for these two worthy causes. Thank you, Temple Emanuel family!
Our next scheduled date to serve food is Sunday September 13th. We still need some items so please call or email me.
Besides the meals that we serve they also need other things. Their wish list includes: plastic forks, spoons and knives, napkins, paper towels, plastic cups (12 oz. and 16 oz.), styrofoam plates (10 and 12 inches), styrofoam bowls and styrofoam sectional containers, commercial grade plastic wrap (18x500 ft.) aluminum foil 18x500 feet). They also need such foods as eggs, bacon, sliced cheese, regular coffee and coffee creamer.
If you
will drop these items by the synagogue office, we will see that they are
delivered to JCOC, or, if you prefer, you can bring the items yourself to
JCOC, whose address is
B'Shalom
