Committees

There are many committees at Temple Emanuel and all members are encouraged to participate in those committees that are of interest to them.

Education/School Committee-Supervise the schools of the congregation

Ritual Committee - Advise and counsel the Rabbi with regard to all religious services of the congregation; monitor and maintain rules and regulations for services; arrangements for High Holy Days

Membership Committee - Recruit new members and retain members

Adult Education Committee - Develop programs for adult education

G'mach (Acts of Lovingkindness) - Provides comfort, support, and assistance to our Temple Emanuel family as we strive together to create a Holy Community

Social Action and Community Relations - Develop and maintain the congregation’s liaison with other organizations in the community

Youth Activities Committee - Provide social and educational opportunities for youngsters

Social Committee - Provide social events for congregants

House Committee - Oversee and maintain the physical plant and properties of the congregation

Aesthetics Committee - Maintain the beauty of our synagogue

Library Committee - Organize, maintain, and update the library’s collection

Memorial Committee - Remembering our loved ones with memorial plaques

Organize the annual Scholar-in-Residence Weekend

Members of the Men’s Club support many Temple activities such as ushering for the High Holidays, building the succah, and sponsoring lunches for Sunday School events. They also hold brunch meetings with interesting speakers or movies and offer family events during the year such as kayaking, hiking, and bowling.

The Women’s League serves as a support system for the synagogue as well as providing educational and social activities for the women of the congregation. Its Flower Fund raises money for the fresh flowers that adorn the bema and for the annual publication of The Scribe, the synagogue’s annual directory and New Year’s greeting/memorial booklet. The group also provides funds for various Sunday School projects and holiday celebrations.
