Temple Emanuel
The Synagogue at the Beach

From the President

Our prime focus is to find a new Rabbi and David Maizel is chairing that committee. We have organized ourselves into three groups and each group will be interviewing. This will enable us to move quicker. We understand that this is most important to us as the Rabbi should be a driving force in the synagogue and community.

The last three weekends at the synagogue have been delightful. The Pincus Scholar in residence was Elli Wohlgelernter, an editor and writer who moved to Israel. He discussed life and expectations from the Israeli point of view. The following weekend the choir from the Ramaz School in Manhattan came to perform for us while in town for a competition. Then last weekend the Solomon Schecter School came to join us during services and performed for the Kiddush. It was wonderful to see and hear all of these talented young people.

The Men’s Club is hosting a “fun day” at Harbor Park to see the Norfolk Tides play ball in July. Ticket information is in another section in the newsletter.

Our Annual Meeting will be May 27, and during that meeting we will elect new board members to replace those whose terms are expiring. We need to have everyone present to have a successful meeting.
We hope you all had a happy Passover. We were in Sedona, Arizona visiting with our family. We enjoy the area very much.

Sincerely

Charlie Heyman
