Subject: [pinwheelers] SHABBAS AND SHAVUOTH!!!

SHALLOOOOOOOOOOOM PINWHEEL REGION!!!! As the week winds down, i just wanted to remind all of you of a couple things.  First of all, i hope everyone has a super, fantabulous, amazing, and incredible Shabbat.  The second thing is about Shavuoth.  The festival of Shavuoth start sunday st sundown and goes until tuesday at sundown.  This holiday is also known literally as "The feast of Weeks" and is a holiday to celebrate and remember the giving of the torah to the Jewish people.  It is always held exactly seven weeks after pesach!  Another intersting fact about shavuot/ or shavuoth is that it can also be called "Yom Habikkurim," meaning  "Day of the first fruits," because of how the farmers in Israel used to bring their fruits and harvest into jerusalem as a sign of thanksgiving.  Shavuot is the second of three major harvest festivals with pesach and sukkot as the other two.  Shavuoth is similar to shabbat in that no work is permitted.  Also, it is customary to eat one dairy meal a day- some say this is a reminder of the land "flowing with milk and honey," others say that since we just recieved the dietary laws in the Torah, our ancestors did not have separate dishes, so they only ate dairy! yeah!  so i hope you've enjoyed your brief informational session on this lovely holiday and i love you all!
sincerely yours,
