B’nai Shalom Nursery School

B’nai Shalom Nursery School is nestled into the heart of B’nai Shalom Synagogue.  We are a conservative congregation in West Orange, NJ led by Rabbi Stanley Asekoff.   Our staff is handpicked for their ability to provide your child with exciting fun-filled days learning and sharing experiences in arts and crafts, drama, music, gymnastics, cooking, and readiness skills.  These activities will provide the basis for your child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.  Our program, which is part of B’nai Shalom’s education program, teaches Jewish values, history, holidays and ideals; therefore the synagogue requires at least one parent to be Jewish.

Classes and Programs

Our school year is from September to June.  The daily program has both active and quiet activities.  Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

Two Year Olds (children who are two by October 1^st) meet 2 or 3 mornings a week and can Lunch Bunch.

Three Year Olds attend 3 or 5 mornings and can add afternoon programs.

Pre-Kindergarten  (Fours) children come 5 mornings and can add afternoon programs.

Afternoon Program

Lunch Bunch:  11:30 – 12:30 Daily   for   2’s, 3’s and  Pre-K’s

May stay with us for lunch.  We offer flexibility to join us on a drop-in basis with 24 hr notice.  Children bring dairy lunch from home.

Afternoon Enrichment 11:30 – 2:30 M / W / F  for  3’s and Pre-K’s

This program includes lunch hour, quiet time, playtime and special learning experience in Literature, Math/Science or our “Explorers Club” (learning about other countries and cultures).

Toddler Programs

These are classes for toddlers and parents (or caregivers) that meet once or twice a week for 45 min to 2½ hr.  Initially parents can share coffee and common concerns while meeting new friends.  Over time, some classes may encourage parents to gradually separate from heir children in order to prepare them for their next nursery experience.

Making New Friends (ages 3 –15 months)

Meet once a week for 2 hr on a drop-in basis (24 hr notice required)

Toddler fun (ages 14 – 24 months)

Is a parent (or caregiver) and child class that meets once a week for 1½ hr.

Young 2’s

Starts in the winter and meets twice a week for 2½ hr.

We offer a 7-week camp program in the summer.  It is fun filled days using both our indoor and outdoor facilities.  Our water slide is a big hit every year!
