Job Bank

Dear Friends,

During this year’s High Holidays, Rabbi Asekoff spoke about a number of trends we see in the Jewish population of our country.  While there were a number of disturbing trends, one of the bright spots was the continuing fact that Jews as a whole continue to be better educated, more motivated and more affluent than many of their counterparts.  Even with these statistics, we are still not immune from economic impacts.  With the downturn in our economy during the past few years, there is a critically alarming need to address unemployment and underemployment within our own congregation and the surrounding Jewish community. The unemployment rate in MetroWest is already reaching an unprecedented level, and the problem is affecting thousands of Jewish families including in many cases our own relatives, friends, neighbors, business associates and MEMBERS OF THIS CONGREGATION!  To this end, B'nai Shalom has joined a PARTNERSHIP between the Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) and a Broad Coalition of MetroWest (MW) Synagogues to link as many of the highly qualified Jewish MetroWest Unemployed to OUR OWN business community.  It is called MW JOB BANK.

Since the highest level of Tzedukah is to help someone get a job--Please do this Mitzvah by providing INFORMATION regarding JOB LEADS/JOB OPENINGS/COMPANY CONTACTS/MENTORS.  Below are the forms and the kick-off  PHONATHON flyer.

A secure, password protected, on-line JOB BANK (MWjobs.org) has been created to assist members of these congregations in their employment search.   JOB LEADS obtained from all Coalition Synagogues will be shared among the participating congregations!

Each participating congregation has a LIAISON to assist synagogue job seekers and employers to become connected to the JOB BANK.  Our liaison is Ron Goldberg (rongold@comcast.net).   For further information contact: our Synagogue Office (bnai@aol.com), 973-731-0160; our liaison, Ron; or Linda Popick at JVS (Lpopick@jvsnj.org), Tel: 973-674-6330 x262.  Fax: 973-674-6820.

Thank you,

Steve Colten, President
