ANNUAL EVENTS AT NEVE SHALOM

Many special events dot the Neve Shalom calendar. Several, including those listed below, involve the whole Neve Shalom community and aim to attract a large audience, including non-members from a large geographical radius. These events require many different tasks to be done in order to be successful. Volunteers are needed and welcomed for these events! Tasks may include publicity, ticket/program design and printing, food preparation, obtaining/donating items for sale or as door prizes, etc. The reward lies in the satisfaction of making Neve Shalom's events always outstanding.

Israel Segal Memorial Lecture

Started in 1986, this annual lecture commemorates the memory of Israel Segal, a beloved member of the congregation. The lectures are sponsored by the Segal family which does not solicit funds nor accept donations for it. The speakers are chosen by the Segal family with assistance from our Rabbi. Previous speakers have included Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of Why Bad Things Happen to Good People, Yaffa Eliach, Professor of Judaic Studies at Brooklyn College and one of the architects of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, and Dr Alice Shalvi, recently appointed rector of the Bet Midrash in Israel (Conservative Judaism's Rabbinical Seminary in Israel). The lectures are usually scheduled in the spring for Yom Hashoah and are open to the entire community.

Suzy Schwartz Memorial Concert

This annual event is a tribute to our late member, Suzy Schwartz. The concert will be held Sunday, April 21st, 2002 at 7pm. The singer will be Sam Glaser.
