Founded
in 1913 by Dr. Solomon Schechter as the association of Conservative
synagogues in North America, The United Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism promotes the role of the synagogue in Jewish life
in order to motivate Conservative Jews to perform mitzvot
encompassing ethical behavior, spirituality, Judaic learning,
and ritual observance.
The
mission of The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism is
to strengthen and serve its affiliated congregations and
their members.
Using
central, regional and local resources, the Great Lakes & Rivers
Region will promote:

Jewish
observance and commitment to the ideology and practice
of Conservative Judaism.

Jewish
education for children, youth and adults.

Development
of congregational, regional and international lay leadership.

Awareness
of the centrality of Israel and Jerusalem in Conservative
Judaism.
