Agudat Achim is an egalitarian Conservative congregation whose
member families are drawn from the communities of Niskayuna, Schenectady
and Latham, as well as from Colonie, Albany, Clifton Park, Guilderland,
and Schoharie County. We take pride in our professionally led, 60 student
Hebrew school and in our award-winning and
wide-ranging adult education programs.
The congregation fosters an informal yet serious approach to Jewish
living and observance. We have formal and informal programs for acquiring
the skills to be an active part of our synagogue services. We have services
twice a day, every day of the week. We are more than services; we are a
caring community.
Our professional staff consists of a rabbi, a ritual director,
a Hebrew School principal, and an administrator. They work with office and
custodial staffs who take their work home with them. What distinguishes
Congregation Agudat Achim is the level of member involvement and commitment.
Our fundraisers, like the
Carrot Festival, involve more than 50% of the
congregation. Our services have a high level of lay leadership, including
acting as shaliach tzibur, and reading Torah.
Our beautiful synagogue building is sited on ten acres of land with plenty of green space. We are
adjacent to a major highway and are easily reachable from all main routes.
