The institute fills quickly, so act now.

Next Year in Israel - Registration has begun for 2007 at Nativ, USY’s college/leadership program in Israel. Participants spend the year between high school and college in Israel. Half of that time they work on a kibbutz or volunteer in a development town; the other half is spent living in Jerusalem, studying at the Hebrew University or the Conservative Yeshiva at the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center. Throughout the Nativ program, students engage in special religious and leadership training experiences.

Join Us in Orlando For Our International Convention! - United Synagogue’s international biennial convention is planned for November 29 through December 3 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Please plan to be there with us!

Kol Dichfin - More than 200 congregations signed up for Kol Dichfin, which, following the Haggadah’s directive that all who are hungry should come and eat, matched Conservative youth movement alumni with seats at seder tables. The program was arranged through Project Reconnect and NAASE, which already have begun work on Come Home for the Holidays.

What's Happening

Israel Commission Adds Listserv - The Israel Commission has begun a listserv, which allows all participants to share ideas, challenges, and solutions about our congregations’ relationship to Israel. The listserv is open to all Israel Commission chairs. Send your name, synagogue affiliation, town, and state to Rabbi Paul Freedman at freedman@uscj.org.

Project Reconnect’s Yellow Pages - Project Reconnect’s website features Yellow Pages in Israel. There, alumni of our movement who have made aliyah can advertise their services, and all of us can look through the listings. It’s a good way to support Conservative Jews who have chosen to live in Israel.

Fuchsberg Center

Tikkun Layl Shavuot - For about 20 years, the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center has been offering an ambitious all-night Tikkun Layl Shavuot. Recently, it has drawn almost 1,000 people, and is believed to be one of the largest such programs in Jerusalem. This year, Shavuot begins at sunset on Tuesday, May 22. After a festive dinner that evening for about 60 undergraduates, the tikkun starts at 10:30 p.m. with more than 10 learning sessions, in both Hebrew and English, and concludes with a predawn walk to the Robinson’s Arch at the kotel, where the group will davven shacharit at sunrise. For more information, email Rabbi Ed Romm at romm@uscj.org.

Wine and Cheese Open House - The Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center offers a wine and cheese open house for United Synagogue visitors to Israel on Sunday, July 1, at 6 p.m.

Repeat Your Wedding Promises in Jerusalem - The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center can host re-wedding ceremonies, as well as parties to celebrate all sorts of milestones. Read more.
