February: Darfur

Unoriginal, you might think? We have all done programs that involved Darfur awareness at some level. But this has recently become even more of an issue.

Since 2003, more than 400,000 people in Darfur, Sudan have died. 3.5 million are starving while another 2.5 have been displaced by the violence.
As much as we all complain about school, we should feel so fortunate that we are given the opportunity to have an education. There are millions of children in the Sudan whose only education is the guide to survival- finding food in the desert-like region, and running away from the violence.

There have been numerous efforts to offer relief to those suffering in Darfur. On April 30, Washington DC will host a rally and march from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum to nearby the White House.

There are ways you can help:
Send letters to your senators or the President
Create awareness programs on the subject--EDUCATE!

Do whatever you can.
Please visit http://www.darfurinfo.org/ for more information
and http://www.savedarfur.org/ to find new ways to help.

You have the ability to promote action. You have the ability to help save somebody's life. You have the ability to make a difference.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

B'hatzlachah! :)
