General Assembly of Kehillot

The General Assembly of Kehillot (“GA”) provides direct representation for each kehilla in the governance of USCJ.  The responsibilities of the GA include the election of USCJ’s officers and directors, the approval of dues rates and assessments, consideration of resolutions on matter of interest to the General Assembly of Kehillot, discussions about issues of global Jewish concern, and more.  

This is the formal announcement of the meeting required by Article 4.1 of the Amended & Restated Bylaws of the United Synagogue.


There will be a special meeting of the General Assembly of Kehillot of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at  2:00 pm EDT in New York City, either at the United Synagogue offices [820 Second Avenue, 10th floor, New York, NY 10017] or a location to be announced later.

The General Assembly of Kehillot (“GA”) provides direct representation for each kehilla in the governance of USCJ.  The responsibilities of the GA include the election of USCJ’s officers and directors, the approval of dues rates and assessments, consideration of resolutions on matter of interest to the General Assembly of Kehillot, discussions about issues of global Jewish concern, and more.  

The purpose of the meeting is to consider and vote on the following recommendation of the Board of Directors:

RESOLVED that the General Assembly of Kehillot hereby authorizes and approves a dues rate of $74.50 per kehilla membership unit effective July 1, 2014; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any district or regional add-on is eliminated effective July 1, 2014.

Please note that a new registration is required to participate, even those who registered and/or voted at either the October, 2013 or March, 2014 General Assembly meetings. 

Please note that when voting on dues rates and assessments your kehilla membership for 2013-2014 will be used to calculate the number of proportional votes your kehilla will have. Failure to register or registration after Friday, May 2, 2014 will result in your kehilla only being allowed to cast one vote.
