Youth Worker Dating (1993)
WHEREAS, synagogue youth groups are intended to play an essential role in Jewish education; and
WHEREAS, youth directors and youth group advisors serve as the primary educational personnel for such programs; and
WHEREAS, educators should be dugmaot, examples of behavior youth should be encouraged to emulate; and
WHEREAS, the International President and Executive Board of United Synagogue have called upon their peers who hold leadership positions on the international and regional levels to refrain from interdating.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon its affiliated congregations to:
- refrain from hiring individuals to serve as youth workers who are currently intermarried; and
- hire non-married individual youth workers who indicate that they do not intend to interdate.
