Young Singles (1993)
WHEREAS, it is important to all synagogues, as well as to the general Jewish community, to encourage the affiliation and commitment of young active Jewish singles and to establish a pattern of Jewish institutional involvement; and
WHEREAS, many Jews have no formal Jewish affiliation between their college years and the religious school enrollment of their first child; and
WHEREAS, many young single Jewish adults have limited financial resources
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM encourages its affiliated congregations to offer reduced-rate memberships to young Jewish singles in their community. This membership should include High Holy Day tickets, placement on the syngagogue mailing list, and eligibility for synagogue programs at preferential members' rates;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM urges congregations to provide programs for young singles and to encourage them to participate in all aspects of synagogue life; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the names of synagogues participating in this program be publicized to attract young singles.
