Uploading with WS_FTP

WS_FTP is a Windows software program that you can use to transfer files to your web directory. It is available here. Pick the appropriate version for your operating system.

Using WS_FTP to upload files to the USCJ server:

  1. Start WS_FTP
  2. Fill in the boxes with the following information:
    • Host: uscj.org
    • Host Type: WARFTPD [or Automatic Detect]
    • User ID: your login from USCJ
    • Password: your password from USCJ
    • On the Advanced tab, check the box for Passive Transfers
  3. Transfer the file(s) from your computer (local directory) to the remote directory on the server.
    • Select ascii (for HTML files) or binary (for image files) from the buttons at the bottom.
    • Click on the file name to be uploaded, then click the arrow pointing to the right.
  4. Until you press the REFRESH button on the right side, you will not see the file name appear on the list in the remote directory.
  5. Exit WS-FTP.

You now can test your web page. Start your favorite web browser and open the URL for your web page to see what it looks like live.
