United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (1993)
WHEREAS, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum which opened in Washington, D.C. in April of 1993 presents the history of the Holocaust, and commemorates its victims, in an outstanding manner; and
WHEREAS, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is certain to become a major institution in the fight against anti-Semitism and all other forms of racial, ethnic, and religious hatreds; and
WHEREAS, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, though its permanent exhibition conclusively refutes all those who deny that the Holocaust happened or who question its immense scope; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent on all North Americans, Jews, and non-Jews alike, to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM commends the members of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, and the professional staff of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for their monumental accomplishment in creating a museum that commemorates the authentic memory of the destruction of European Jewry; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM commends the United States Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton and the U.S. Congresses from 1978-1993 for inspiring and supporting the development of the museum, including making possible its establishment in the heart of the nation's capital; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon its affiliated congregations, as well as upon U.S.Y. and KOACH to organize congregational visits as well as encourage individual visits to the United States Holocaust Museum; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon individuals who have visited the museum to do all in their power to encourage others, Jews and non-Jews, alike to visit the museum.
