In Support of the United Synagogue Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism in Jerusalem (2002)

WHEREAS the Conservative Movement and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, as it congregational arm, have always supported Israel as the spiritual homeland of the Jewish people; and

WHEREAS, since 1972 The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism has maintained a presence at the Fuchsberg Center in the heart of Jerusaelem on Agron Street serving Conservative Jews though its social, educational and youth programs and the facilitation of life cycle celebrations at Masorti institutions in the State of Israel; and

WHEREAS The United Synagogue - in recognition of the ongoing commitment of the members of its affiliated congregations to The State of Israel -- is in the midst of a major expansion program, which will enable the Center to better meet the needs of Conservative Jews;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism -- as part of its firm commitment to support and encourage travel to the State of Israel -- calls upon affiliated congregations to organize their members to travel to Israel in congregational tours, encourage their youth to participate in the United Synagogue's outstanding youth programs, and participating in the campaign to complete the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism.
