Biography:Â Barry Dov Lerner holds a B.A. from Arizona State with honors; holds a
Masters degree in Hebrew Literature and has studied for his DHL in
Midrash and Ancient Judaism at The Jewish Theological Seminary. He
wasordained in 1970 and received his Doctor of Divinity degree from JTSA
in 1996. Dov had 10 years of experience as a student rabbi, and
he has served as a congregational youth group leader and youth director
prior to ordination. He has serve since 1970 until 2010 experience in United
Synagogue of Conservative Judaism congregational pulpits, 25 years on
the staff of Camps Ramah and was long-time member of the National Youth
Commission of United Synagogue for whom he has written and edited
materials and chaired committees.
For 12 years Rabbi Lerner served as lead mashgiach for the Mid-Atlantic Rabbinical Assembly Region, and he has supervised kosher dining for USCJ and FJMC national hotel conventions. He is now President and Rav HaMakhshir of Traditional Kosher Supervision supervising caterers in synagogues and both private and public venues, in addition to other food provisioners in the Philadelphia area.
He has been well received as an author
speaker and teacher currently in Greater Philadelphia-Southern New
Jersey institutions, and also over the years for United Synagogue,
Women's League for Conservative Judaism, Federation of Jewish Men's
Clubs, AAJE/Jewish Educational Services of North America, Board of
Jewish Education of New York in Jewish Family Education. He has served
the UJC-Federation Rabbinic Cabinet as assistant Editor of The Orchard,
on the ORT Rabbinic Advisory Cabinet, and the Rabbinic Cabinet of Bonds
for Israel He has been active in inter-faith work since 1972 with the
Matawan/Aberdeen Clergy Association, Bayshore Association of Ministers,
Priests and Rabbis to the present. He has been an instructor and adviser
to inter-faith couples and those converting to Judaism for 40 years.
Rabbi Lerner founded two websites for the express purposes of Kiruv: (1)

in all of its congregations, arms and institutions -at
www.jewishfreeware.org and (2) Outreach to dual-faith, unaffiliated and
even disaffiliated individuals and families making user-friendly Jewish
materials available to one and all through the web without fee at
