United Synagogue Congratulates President Obama on
NOVEMBER 7, 2012 – The leaders of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism congratulate President Barack Obama on his re-election and wish him well as he leads the country through the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“What is so inspiring about our democracy is that no matter how hard fought the election, or how divisive, once it’s over both candidates honor the result,” said Rabbi Steven Wernick, United Synagogue’s CEO. “Governor Romney and President Obama each believed deeply in his vision for the country’s future, but when the results were in, they came together as citizens of the United States.
“I can think of no better words for this moment than the prayer for our country from the Conservative prayer book, Siddur Sim Shalom: ‘We ask [God’s] blessings for our country, for its government, for its leader and advisors, and for all who exercise just and rightful authority.’ ”
