Dear Mr. President,

Thank you for the statements you and your administration have made supporting the right of Israel to defend itself from the barrage of rocket attacks raining down upon its citizens. Your leadership on this issue makes clear that when it comes to Israel’s security, the United States is indeed unwavering in its support.

We believe that the Israeli Defense Force acted with patience, prudence and vigilance -- waiting out a rocket barrage of hundreds of rockets from Gaza that lasted several weeks -- before striking back. As you know, the ongoing assault against Israeli civilians in the south is a threat that no other nation would have tolerated for as long.

We appreciate and look forward to your ongoing efforts to ensure that the citizens of Israel are not subject to rocket attacks that terrorize them and their children. Your solidarity with the people of Israel at this time of crisis is profoundly important.
