Campus Update: University of Illinois
By Emilie Botbol
KOACH Intern
Although the University of Illinois had its first snow days since 1979
in February, a lot has been going on in the KOACH world. On January 29, the
group got together and got dirty! Since Hillel is in a temporary building
this year while we build our new one,
we hold Conservative tefillot in a
room in the basement. Before January 29, it was just a room with white
walls and some old furniture. But now, it is full of life! We painted
murals and Jewish objects on the walls and added splashes of color and hung
pictures to make our shul more inviting.
Now that the U of I KOACH has a brand new style, we are going to shake
things up this semester with monthly Israeli movie nights, a hamentaschen
baking contest and a year-end KOACH Shabbaton with our Conservative
neighbors from the next town over.
