ESSAY QUESTIONS
1. Why are you interested in the KOACH internship?

2. Describe the Jewish community on your campus. In particular, please describe the Conservative community as it exists now and how you think it will be transformed by the Internship program?

3. Please describe any previous experience with KOACH (e.g., events, Kallah).

4. Please list and briefly describe any related experience that may have prepared you for the KOACH internship.

5. What other activities/organizations are you presently involved with? Describe any leadership positions (eg, Hillel President, etc).

6. What activities are you going to be involved in during the upcoming academic school year? Describe any leadership positions.

7. Have you reviewed the list of intern expectations and agreed to fulfill these responsibilities?

8. Describe your affiliation with the Conservative Movement, including personal practice.

9. Please give us the name and title of the Hillel professional who would serve as your mentor on campus. (Note that your application will not be complete until we receive a letter of recommendation from this professional.)

10. What is your dream for the future of Conservative Judaism?

If you are applying to be a KOACH/Ramah Campus Leader...

1. What Ramah camp will you be at this summer?

2. How many years and in what capacity have you been at Ramah Camps?

3. How do you see serving as a KOACH/Ramah Campus Leader influencing your camp experience?

4. What impact does your camp experience have on your potential as a KOACH/Ramah Campus Leader?

5. What is your vision for the KOACH/Ramah partnership? If you are on a campus with a small population of Conservative Jews, what will your role as an intern bring to Conservative Jewish life on campus beyond the boundaries of your own school?

IN ADDITION...

In addition to your application, please have your Hillel professional submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. This can also be sent via email to Rabbi Elyse Winick at winick@uscj.org.

If you are applying to be a KOACH/Ramah Campus Leader, we must also receive a letter of recommendation from the Director of your Ramah Camp.

These letters of recommendation are required in order to consider your application. The letters demonstrate the campus' (and camp's) willingness to participate in the KOACH Internship Program and its endorsement of you as a candidate. Campus professionals can endorse multiple candidates for KOACH's review, though only one will be selected per campus.

Once an application is received, candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview with a member of the KOACH staff.
