Jerusalem, 3000 (1995)

WHEREAS, the year 5756 has been designated the year of "Jerusalem 3,000"; and

WHEREAS, THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM affirms the centrality of Israel to Judaism and Jewish life; and

WHEREAS, the Jewish people's relationship with Israel transcends any political differences within the Jewish community; and

WHEREAS, THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM has embarked on a campaign to increase activities at the Center for Conservative Judaism in Jerusalem by expanding the facilities and building an Education Center and Youth Residence at 6 Agron Street;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls on its congregations, through MERCAZ, to participate fully in the worldwide celebration of Jerusalem 3,000; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM will enhance its programs to strengthen ties between the Diaspora and Israel and to make Israel a priority in its affiliated congregations and in the lives of their members; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls on its affiliated congregations to conduct programs to educate their members about Israel, to sponsor trips to Israel, and to encourage and provide financial assistance for their teenagers to participate in USY Pilgrimage, USY High, and Nativ; and

BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNGAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon the members of its affiliated congregations to support the campaign to build the Education Center and Youth Residence at 6 Agron Street in Jerusalem.
