Family Israel Experience

June 29 - July 10, 2014
$2,450* for the land package

Next summer, we invite you to join the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism on its 3rd annual Family Israel Experience. This dynamic Israel travel program features many of Israel’s natural and modern wonders – Jerusalem, Caesarea on the Mediterranean, Tiberius, Masada, the Dead Sea and Tel Aviv. The program has a multi-generational approach with activities designed for youth, teens, adults and even active grandparents! All of your senses will be filled with the life, smells, tastes, sounds, and texture of modern Israel.

Our Family Israel Experience also provides the opportunity to celebrate your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah in Israel – or even celebrate the anniversary of your own Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Our B’nai Mitzvah ceremony takes place on top of Masada in one of the oldest synagogues in the world.

The trip is led by Rabbi Charles Savenor and his wife, Julie Walpert. Rabbi Savenor is the USCJ Director of Kehilla Enrichment and a veteran Israel group leader, including USY Pilgrimage and Birthright.

Here’s what people are saying about United Synagogue’s Family Israel Experience:

“I think having a top tour guide together along with a Rabbi to provide additional religious and Jewish historical perspective, humor and warmth was a big key to the trip’s success. While my family had never been to Israel I had been many times in the past, but this trip exceeded all my expectations.”

– Robert Finkel, Newton, MA

“I really enjoyed the fact that this is a multi-generational trip. The kids brought a wonderful energy and the adults provided balance and perspective. Having a counselor to tend to the kids in their down time was a great idea and Yifat was amazing. What really made this an incredible trip was Rabbi Charlie Savenor. He was the perfect tour leader with just the right amount of energy, humor, knowledge and flexibility. He made an effort to get to know everyone and make everyone feel special. Each site we attended had knowledgeable guides and leaders, which made for an interesting time.”

– Judy Greenberg, Burlington, VT

“What a great trip!! Over forty people of diverse ages and backgrounds from across the country were treated to an unforgettable experience in Israel. The itinerary was well thought out, allowing us to experience the history and culture of Israel. Minyanim were offered each morning, adding to the spiritual connection we all felt. The trip was led by Rabbi Charles Savenor, whose insights and good natured sense of humor were both fascinating and thought-provoking. I highly recommend this trip.”

– Harry Baumohl, Owings Mills, Maryland – Participant in 2011
