IRS Restrictions on Lobbying
Pew Forum releases "Politics and the Pulpit" -- guide to IRS restrictions on electioneering and lobbying.
In an effort to educate congregations about the current rules governing their participation in the political process, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life has published a guide that clarifies the relevant IRS restrictions on electioneering and lobbying by 501(c)(3) organizations, including houses of worship and other religious organizations.
Politics and the Pulpit: A Guide to the Internal Revenue Code Restrictions on the Political Activity of Religious Organizations was written by Deirdre Dessingue, Associate General Counsel of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. A PDF version of the document is available here in .PDF format on the Pew Forum website.
The document is also available as a bound pamphlet. To place an order for free copies, please email your request, with your mailing address, to publications@pewforum.org.
If you find this guide helpful, please forward this email to other Colleagues who may be interested.
