How You Can Help

  1. Subscribe to Jewish magazines, visit Jewish websites, read Jewish newspapers. Educate yourself about all the information and disinformation coming from left and right, from Arabs and Israelis, from Muslims and Jews, from fundamentalist and liberal Christians
  2. Write pro-Israel letters to local and national media outlets.
  3. Urge government leaders to support Israel's right to self defense and to take actions to limit the capacity for further aggression by the terrorist groups and their state sponsors, Iran and Syria.

  5. Call for the immediate and unconditional release of the Israeli soldiers being held by Hamas and Hezbollah and hold the governments of Syria and Iran responsible for these acts of aggression against Israel.
  6. Call upon the United Nations and its secretary-general, Kofi Annan, to deal with the situation fairly.
  7. Help to organize and/or attend rallies in support of Israel held in synagogues or in local communities.
  8. We encourage Conservative Jews to donate to the UJC's Israel Emergency Fund. To learn why we recommend the IEF, click here. To read a letter from our president, Dr. Raymond Goldstein, and our executive vice president, Rabbi Jerome Epstein, click here. The fund supports Israeli institutions affected by the war and has committed itself to providing significant help to Conservative and Masorti programs and causes in Israel.
  9. We also urge our congregations to observe Solidarity Shabbat. Click here to learn more about that special Shabbat, and click here for a Solidarity Shabbat reading.
  10. Tie a blue ribbon around a tree or mailbox in front of your home to raise awareness about the kidnappings and demonstrate your solidarity with the people and the state of Israel.
  11. Go to Israel.
  12. Call and email your friends and relatives in Israel.
  13. Buy products made in Israel.
  14. Prayer connects us to God and to each other. Come to synagogue services and feel the power of community to encourage and support us all. Include a prayer for the well being of the captives and for the well being of all the citizens and soldiers of Israel. For one such prayer, click here.
