Resolutions on Camp Ramah (1997)

WHEREAS, for the past 50 years Camps Ramah have been a source of pride to the Conservative Movement and since 1947 has nurtured the Jewish identity and knowledge of children, teens, and young adults alike; and

WHEREAS, Ramah has provided the inspiration and role models for large numbers of young adults to choose as professions the Rabbinate, Jewish education, and other fields of Jewish communal service throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, Ramah, through the Tikvah program, has for over 25 years been a leader in lovingly mainstreaming thousands of children with special needs and has now established the Kesher program from Jewish families with deaf and hard of hearing members; and

WHEREAS, Ramah has expanded its mission to include partnerships with Conservative synagogues in family camping and year round retreat programs;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM recognizes the outstanding achievements of the Ramah Camping Movement on this, its 50th Anniversary; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM continue in its efforts to maintain a close, working partnership with Camps Ramah for the next 50 years and beyond.
